Short answer:

I like history (I’m a history major at university) and I’m fluent in more than one sense of the word (i.e. I speak more than one language and I can express myself “easily and articulately”,* to borrow the Oxford English Dictionary’s definition).

Long answer:

I agonized for weeks (literally–I can be quite obsessive at times) before I stumbled upon this domain name. I had some really good ideas for website names that were unfortunately already taken. Just when I was beginning to despair, my mom helped me come up with this domain name, which was miraculously both available and relatively descriptive of my interests. Thus Fluent Historian, a blog that’s pretty impossible to categorize (due to my incredibly random interests), was born.

*At the very least, I’d like to imagine that I can do so!
